Ok here it is straight from the manual. "Starting procedure-- Engine Manifold Air Temperture Below 66F (19C) The temperture displayed on the overhead console (If equiped) does not necessarily reflect the engine manifold air temperture. When certain tempertures fall below 66F the lamp will remain on indicating the intake manifold heater system is active".

Hope this helps, mine has not come on since summer started beside 1 cold morning.. thats it.

Mike, I believe the dashes do a bulb check on the newer trucks, when you first turno the key to on alll the lights come on for a secound or two. Check to see if the wait to start comes on then.
