Default best chip for mileage

hey guys I was wondering what improvement mileage wise you got with the TST box. Still considering bully dog and edge. But I like the TST ability to run horsepower and torque seperate. So I was curious to see what kind of mileage improvments you get.

if I'm easy on the throttle without the box I'll top out high 16's low 17's. same with my TST and I can get mid 19's.

howver where is the fun in that, I mostly average mid to high 17's.

If yoo want to get more power and better fuel mileage at the same time you should get a programmer. I have the hypertech which is only 66 hp and 140 ft lbs, but it increased my fuel mileage from about 16-17 in town to about 20-22 depending on my foot and from about 19-20on the hwy to about 24-26. My buddy is running the diablo power puck chip and diablo predetor programmer on his truck which is an increase of 200 hp at the wheels and he gets almost as good fuel mileage as me, but he is in a four door 4x4 1 ton dually, I am in a 2wd extended cab 2500.

I asked my local Dodge dealer about adding something like this to my truck and the parts guy told me some of them are just doing it with pressure...it's like holding your power steering one way and having the pump maxed out all the time....hard on things. What's everyones take on that? I didn't think that sounded like a good thing to do. Do the programmers that do it with timing & other ways than just pressure help the mileage too?

Dealers in my opinion aren't very "honost". I don't trust em. I don't trust most mechanics also. I've had alot of experience where they tell you one thing and then try to screw you up the butt. Also would you trust a dealer mechanic who can't answer your question but sure can charge you too look at the vehicle. "I don't know, I'll have to take a look at it. It'll cost $50." He looks. "Sorry buddy not sure what to tell ya." He doesn't look very sorry too me! Yeah. Also Your telling me chipping a vehicle will tear it up if it's set on mild? So..... what about all of the emissions raising egt's? Those are Goood? Dealers make me mad. 57ringo Don't believe everything you hear from the dealer. They'll tell you anything you do to your truck other than having dodge do it is tearing it up! NO NO NO.... Don't change your oil. You'll blow the engine! NO NOT SYNTHETIC! Oh nooo.. You didn't change your air filter. THat's it. Umm.. your burning oil because uhh.... You changed your own oil and the truck didn't like it. Ummm.. Yeah.

each chip does things differently. most are pressure/timeing boxes, you have some that are pressure/duration, and then the timeing/duration and pressure if so equiped.

then you have your downloaders that do all three, however they are replaceing the ECM programming.

will they kill your engine. . .all you have to do is look at triton. however if used in a more conservative maner they wont do any harm.

I would rather have one that affected the timing/duration vs one that just raised the pressure. It seems to me that would be hard on the pump for sure but since I'm new to the CTD I'm learning here. I just would like to have better mileage and good durability. It has enough power for me. Ibuilt a pulling truck with 800HP to satisfy that part of me
