what is "safe temp" to shut it off? and what is a safe temp to start running it hard??

 

300F is a good safe temp to shut down. . .you can run hard at any temp, just dont go over 1200pre turbo on your 02.

Mayfair when soot is burned it turns to ash just like your charcoal in your barbeque does. Ash builds up in the dpf and eventually the dpf will need pulled off and cleaned

 

for further clairification on the the rgen mode. the computer actually injects fuel in the exhaust stroke. the fuel then actually burns in the exhaust and literaly burns the soot into co2 and very little ash. the scheduled maintenance for the dpf is 100-120k ingenious idea crappy for exhaust flow

 

I think your right Jake. . .I remember reading somewhere the 6.7's turbo not only being a VGT is also water cooled.

 

They sure are putting a lot of demand on the cooling system, Must have one heck of a rad in that thing
