Default I need help

Hi all I am new here and I really need some help. I have a 2005 3500 with the cummins and for some reason it has started to ping really bad when under a load or not. To me it sounds like a car that has bad gas but it also smokes black really bad. Does anyone have a clue what I can do to fix this or do I need to got to the shop. Thanks Mike

Just changed the oil and filter also changed the fuel filter and reconditioned the air filter. To me its like it is getting to much fuel it has a little lack of power but not much.

P0483 Cooling Fan Speed
P0073 Ambient Temperature Sensor High
P0107 Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Low

your last one will casue the loss in performance. check your MAP and IAT sensors and reconnect them. the IAT is right behind the air filter box, your MAP is on the right hand side of the engine as you are looking at it. dont get it confused with the rail pressure sensor that is to the right, it is the one on the left naxt to the fuel rail between some injector lines.

if that doesnt do it take it to you closest auto parts store and have them clear the codes. if they go away your good.

as far as your cooling fan speed, if it comes back after clearing the codes you may have a chewed up harness and unfortunately one of the wires that gets ripped is the fan clutch wire.

I dont think I have a lack of fuel I believe that I am getting to much fuel or not enough air. I also checked and there are 2 sensors that look the same on the right side of the engine both are near the fuel rail do I need to check the one in front or in back. Mike

the one on the rail is the RPS, you need the one on the intake manifold, just pull the plug and check to make sure none of the pins are bent/broken and no corrosion.
