My cousin has a 1997 2500 5.9L 12V Cummins that loses alot of power when pulling or just driving up hills. Does anybody have any suggestions?
One other thing, are there any programmers/tuners out there for this truck. Any help......PLEASE!!!!

 

Its all mechanical, no tuners. You can get a fuel cam plate for it to help a little. You can also turn up the star wheel abit (just a few clicks though) How long since the last fuel filter and airfilter change? Also check the boost line coming from the intake manifold to the AFC on the injector pump. (its a little rubber line going to the topof thebackside of the injector pump) Those can deteriorate and cause a boost leak.

 

This maybe a stupid question, but can you tell me how to turn up the star wheel? Also where can we find a fuel cam plate for this truck. Thanks

 

See the 8mm allen plug, remove it and you'll see




This star wheel inside. Turn the top towards the engine a few clicks and your done with that. Don't get too crazy with it until you get an egt gauge.






As far as fuel plates go, I think BD diesel makes one along with ATS diesel (there areothers out there).
