Can you get an exhaust brake on an auto? I forgot to mention that I had the automatic, I believe its the 48RE. Wish I had the stick , always wanted to run her through the gears. Do you reccomend the EB before the regear or doesn't matter? I have a hell of a time with my egt's having such a high gear ratio makes me defuel on every overpass. thanks

Love the Monty. We have had it for about two months now and have only taken a few short 3-4 day trips in it but it is great. This fall we are planning a 3,000 mile trip from Northern CA to Mesa Verde, CO then up to Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Sandpoint ID and then home.

Looking forward to being able to take longer vacations in the near future as my Store Manger takes over more and more.

exhaust brake on the 06's is a go without any extra crap. . .you just have to update the ECM so it knows to lock the torque converter when the brake is enabled.

as far as power brakeing. . .4.10's give your engine better leverage over the 3.73's. . .look at it like this. . .what would be easier to use. . .a bar that is 3 feet long, or a bar that is 4 feet long. . .the truck sees it the same way.

heck. . .last time my truck saw a load it was about 5K+ of sand in the bed, and 70-75 was easy

Ok, sounds good, will the 4.10s be cheaper than 4.56s? how much do exhaust brakes run? which is best? lol, lots of questions, sorry. Thanks

as far as price. . .probably not. with the e-brake I'm not 100% sure on the price but itmay run around $1000 or less.

Hey Drew, I made it a point to remember my RPM's while driving yesterday. At 2,000rpm i'm doing 84mph on my outlook monitor. At 70mph I'm at 1650rpm. 84mph at 2k sounds good, but pushing the beast from a dead stop is why its not worth it. I never have any trouble running out of power with it, but in order to turn the 37s when I'm towing or stopped in lose sand, I have to wait until my rpm's go up and the turbo starts building boost before she starts creeping. There islittle throttle lag, but just the inertia of the tires make my take off slow. I think I will regear. Will the dealer install them if I buy from Randy's ring&pinion, or do I have to order through mopar? how about break in? when should I start having faith that the new gears won't blow out of my axle when I floor it? Thanks

With the auto what is the first gear ratio? I've got the 3.55's in my rear end and the NV5600 and for tires 295 r16 75's and even with a decent amount of weight (2k in the box and a car in tow) it will accelerate just fine from a stop, I guess I do use 1st when I have anything more than my boat in tow, but I mean the truck never seems to be lacking.
