Default new 07 6.7L ????

I just jumped ship from an 01 F-350 7.3L powerJoke to an 07 6.7L cummins and i installed an autometer pyrometer (every thing else is stock). Running around town or highways empty, it is reading 800-900. Once it spikes up to 1000-1050. The ford was like 600-700 empty and maybe 900 pulling a big Fifthwheel up a hill. Is this normal for these motors to make that much heat??

This has so much more power than the older ford did, could that be a factor.

It is probably because of the dpf. That 6.7 has a lot more power than the 7.3 don't it.

thats normal. . .the engine is designed to handle higher heat. first of all your looking at a motor that is putting out about 350+hp and that takes more fuel to produce that power. the more fuel you burn the more heat that is generated.

the point I would get worried would be around 1350F to 1400F
