I have2 4x4 fordsat my disposal for winter driving.. Which is whyI went for the 4x2 as a tow vehicle.. But there will be times such as holidays whereI will want to drive my ram.. .
The more and more you drive your happy new Ram, the less and less your gonna wanna drive them Fords.

You want more mod ideas you say ??

I moved my block heater cord to the rear of my Ram as I back into my driveway. Having the connect at the back made it easier to plug in at night, and more importantly made it harder for me to drive away with it plugged in because I didn't see it plugged in.

SinceIwas relocating the heater cord, I added a battery charger to the mix as well. That way I'm not only heating the block, but I'm also charging the batteries.

Here ya go .... PROPS to Demon for giving me the inspiration !!

My driveway is on a slope downwards. Putting the truck on the ramps levels it all out and really helps out a lot.

Here it is sitting on the driveway NOT on ramps ..

Yeah, me too. I wasn't sure how they were gonna look at first, but as soon as I bolted the first one up it was instant love. I'm thinking about going up a tire size or two. Right now i have 265's on there. I'm thinking about going to either 285's or maybe 315's, but I don't wanna do a lift or anything.

You can plug it in but the main reason for the "radiator jacket" is because diesels during the winter have a hard time maintaing their temperature while driving. So you block it. But if your not concerned about looks you can throw some cardboard in there and it'll do the same thing. Just on the front side of the grill. couple zip ties. or tie wire. Do ya good. I've seen a few trucks do that. I will do it too probably because if it works and i don't have to spend 300 bucks on some piece of leather. I'm all for it. Hey spray it black with paint and you can't hardly tell it's cardboard! Yeah but main reason they have em is to help the diesel to maintain a temperature because diesel doesn't burn as hot as gasoline, even some gas engines have a hard time maintaining temperatures in winter so they do it too.

I'd just use a beerbox in front. Save some $$$.

Kansas gets cold?

Last winter we had an ice storm that lasted a month and a half where some people were without electricity for 3 weeks....thats not typical of kansas.. but it sure was a rough patch of weather.. here's a couple pics..

I like the idea and cost effectiveness of the painted beer box tie wrapped on.. sounds like 30 loose cans of beer and a job to do... hmmmmmm... I might have to invite some friends over for that job..[sm=partyparty.gif]

Dodge makes a winter front for our trucks and it fits behind the grill, it's made of Leather and it works much better then the grill inserts. I don't recall the price but see if you can find one on E-bay cheaper. I have a photo of my winter front but its on my other computers hard drive thats broke down. You can try to find a copy of the photo I posted by using the search option.
