Default Back from Yellowstone.......

Hey Guys, we're back from Yellowstone all in one piece and remarkably still talking to one another. Had a great time and the CTD performed fantastic. The more fuel I gave it, the more it wanted, just kept pulling as much as I wanted. We put around 5k miles inside of 3 weeks on the road. I weighed in at a cat scales at 26,660 lbs and with that, hand calculated around 11 mpg on somewhat flat ground to small hills doing 1700 rpm's / 62 mph. Up in the mountains, all bets were off, as the ATS and Edge upgrades did their stuff. At one state park we stayed at in eastern MO, coming out of a hair pin turn in a bottom, I had to program up to stage 5 ( extreme ) on the Attitude to pull the trailer up the grade. It wasn't pretty, but it smoked and screamed up themountain ! I'm going to avoid the dreaded " This thread is worthless without Pic's " signs so here's some of the trip. Hope not to bore anyone, and of course it's not truely CTD related, but what the hell. Glad to be back in the saddle and on line again. __________________________________________________ ______________________________ Arriving at the North Entrance __________________________________________________ ______________________________ One of the many Hot Springs __________________________________________________ ______________________________ Me hiking along Yellowstone Lake __________________________________________________ ______________________________ Yellowstone Lower Falls __________________________________________________ _____________________________ Bison on a foggy morning

I wish that I could take a vacation. The last good one that we took was to rapid City SD ($$$$$$$$$$$) in the summer of 2003. That was also the second one that we took that year. The first one was paid for by the Sheriff's Office at a Man Tracking school in Michigan. I hope that when my family decides to go to Yellowstone that it is not at the same time that the volcano decides to blow and make all of us into basic carbon elements.......

Glad to see that the park has not changed from the last time I was their. I knew you would enjoy your stay there once your trailer in to camp that is It must of been one calm day and no wind for the Yellowstone river to be like galss in your photo. Also your photos make me want to hop in the truck go back again to the park and camp for a week. I would go now but I’m converting the garage in to living space and that needs to be finished first and its costing me $$ every time I find a corner they cut when the house was built 35 years ago. Anyway I'm surprised to hear you had to crank the Edge up to stage 5 to get your CTD up the hill. What did you do find some back woods road that had a 10% grade going straight up and then some red neck Ferd/Cheby wanted to try an pass you an you just had to show him how good your CTD was .

Hey DBLR, The park was likely as nice as when you were there last. But no, that hill from hell was a black top, with a heck of a grade, don't know, it wasn't posted. It caught me a the bottom at about a standstill. I tried going up in the milage stage 1 mode and made it about 3/4 of the way up. I got my wife out to stop any oncoming traffic and backed down the hill for another try at it. I thought, what the hell, I'll punch it up to stage five--let her eat, and eat she did. By then a ranger in a ford did come by, which secretly gave me some home grown incentive to not show the white flag. About half the dirt on the trailer from the 3 week trip came from the soot coming out of the tail pipe on that climb !!
