Does anyone here know of any 1500 trucks that have been converted to diesel? I can find all kinds of places that do diesels into jeeps, but not trucks.
I am thinking about a cummins 4BT into my 1998 1500 qc 4x4. My main question would be if anyone knows how hard it would be to bolt up the stock trans (auto)to the 4BT, or if anyone makes an adapter to do so?
Thanks.

4BT might be a little small to move your truck. This post https://dodgeforum.com/m_911478/mpag.../tm.htm#912932touched on it a little. But I know the 4BT is mainly used for small vehicle applications or run around town delivery type trucks. And I doubt that it will bolt up to your transmission since the trans for a diesel is a lot heavier duty since it deals with large amounts of torque and power transfer.

has it been done. . .yes. . .would it power a 1500. . yup, but not very quick.
you would need a new trans since the torque curves would destroy that auto tranny the first time you got on the throttle.
do some reading up

Thanks for the help. I have no intention of leaving the 4BT stock. I have been toying with the idea for almost 6 months now. The last issue of "Diesel Power" that came out had an old bronco with this conversion. At one point, it was over 500hp and 700lb-ft, but detuned it to around 350hp at the wheels. So I guess you could say I have been inspired again. Thanks for the links!!!
