Default 2005 5.9 burning oil like crazy

I noticed lots of oil that looks like it was coming out of the tube on the back of the engine (blow by?) I changed to Mobil synthetic 15/50 and its still been burnin about a 1 quart ever 1,000 miles since I switched...... This 05 truck only has 91,000 miles....... Its not smoking much out the exhaust but it started consuming oil around 60,000 miles..... . Any ideas to what it could be.... Thanks!

If your truck is already blowing oil with so few miles , I would carry it back to the dealer and make them fix it. Its still under the 100k warranty. However if there are any mods or any signs of abuse you might have a problem getting them to honor the warranty. If you are maxing out the GVWRs on long hauls , it may use a little oil also. I would'nt like it either if mine was burning oil, But the stealership will tell you that1qt every 1000 miles is not excessive. You need to pull the oil filler cap and see if there is any blowby. my buddy parks his CTD on a steep and I mean steep hill and his truck loses oil out the tube that way. It may sound crazy but its the truth. Good luck

Its the cap that you take off to put oil in the engine[:-]Leave it running with the cap off at an idle and if you have a blowby problem it will be obvious. There should be little to no pressure coming out.

you will see crankcase gasses puffing out the oil fill if you have a blow by issue

A while back there were a bunch of trucks having this issue, and I think the fix had to do with the crankcase vent tube and it function. They were loosing oil out the tube and nothing else was wrong with their trucks. I would think if there was enough blow by to pump oil out you would notice a loss of performance and / or economy.
