while banks is good stuff. . .you pay alot for what you get. if youve got a 5.9l get either a smarty downloader, or an edge box. . .they both give alot more power for a lower price.

as far as intake and exhaust mods. . .AFE intake, and just leave the exhaust alone for the most part. dump the stock muffler for an MBRP muffler, or something similar.

I tend to stay away from Banks. Way overrated in my opinion. Never have ran anything Banks on my truck and never will. As Drew said, look into a Smarty. I have absoloutly no complaints with mine.

The one product that has caught my eye is the Banks CAI, does anyone have one of these and have any advice to offer?

I have the ATS intake which is similar to the banks and like it alot... ATS claimed a nice torque boost @ 1700 rpms (51 ft lbs??? @ the crank) and my butt dyno agreed... tranny didnt need to down shift as much when passing which was telling me the torque output had improved...

on the intake side I have the AFE setup... exhaust is a 4040 aero feeding a 30" magnaflow...

That intake made that much difference? Hmm I suppose it can get more air in with bigger diameter. I noticed you have anoil line coming into the oil filler cap. You have another oil filter unit that supplies that correct? What type is it?

bypass filter. . .it filters to a smaller particle size but only allows a very low flow rate. Ive got one as well and have noticed my oil is not as black so it is actualy removing the soot

As far as intake and exhaust.. On the dyno, an air intake system doesn't give youmuch.. If you're speaking of the air horn, you won't pick up much there either. There are 850 rwhp trucks running the stock horn. The main reasons to buy an aftermarket air horn is for looks and easy installation of nitrous or water/meth. If you wanted one, I would go with the Hellmann Performance air horn. Price is around $225. The exhaust that is stock on your truck is a 4'. That's plenty unless you get pretty serious. I ran 620 rwhp with my stock exhaust. I just removed the cat and muffler, thenreplaced it with a Walker muffler from NAPA. The model # is 21471.When it comes to programmers, the Smarty doesn't leave a trace on your factory computer. When you take it to the dealership, they won't be able to see it had been modified so it won't void your warranty. The customer support with the Smarty is also great.. I have ran Bully Dog, TS, Edge, and Predator programming.. They all give good gains. Good luck, and let the addiction begin..
