She means "savings" for retirement..I guess?? I'm only 21 though, so as far as I'm concerned I don't need to plan for retirement yet

My wife called me an old man when I said I wanted to start putting a big chunk of change away every week into a 401k because we were so young, we will see what she says in 25 years.
eh... I'd rather enjoy life now, and worry about retirement later. I'm not even done going to school yet (structural engineering). Maybe after I get my REAL job I will start seriously thinking about it, but for now I'm just having fun playin'. I think I would regret not having fun while I was young, later once I get old.
Also, I would like to say that we have been saving a respectable amount of moneyfor retirement, wife has a 401k (going for 5 years now), I have money in stock (including ford, that was a mistake, haha), couple of CD's going, and we also have a pretty decent savings account.

Thanks dude. We are trying a little bit, but man it hurts to see that much money just dissappear into "savings" and not be able to spend even a little bit of it. I mean, I have wanted, no, needed

I got it. lets say your rig is having problems that need to be fixed. however with the help of the forum and your own know how you can fix them. you will need about 600 for parts. Buy the parts cash, tinker with your truck, then sneak them back with the reciept. have the edge shipped to someone else's house (trusted friend) then tell your wife a month or so down the road that you found someone real hard up for money and they used to have a ctd but crashed it and some parts happen to be compatable and you go the edge for 80 percent off retail and could not pass it up.
When I bought my mud terrain tires for my toyota, I was at the time doing vynal replacement windows and my boss and I wanted to go off roading and take his quad and my truck for fun. I had my street tires and rims, I also had a trip planned for the next weekend. had to think quick on how to convince the wife my mud tires were going on my truck for parcticle purposes. I then thought of telling her that I need to break them in on the street for a few hundred miles or the soft compund will wear out too fast from sand and dirt and mud lodging in it and cause major premature wear. It worked like a charm.
That was when I was afraid to tell her too much stuff, now I tell her and either she accepts it and I go, she gets mad and I go, or she compromises to go somewhere herself and I go. I love win-win situations
