from what I hear, you can install it your self...and you can either still use the stock filter or bypass it or completely take it out...but someone like trition could tell you ALOT more!

Mayfair installed his own. he put his below his pickup bed about a foot behind the cab, i think you change the filters about every 10k miles. I'm goin to try and get one later on, goin to get my 3 gauges and chip and if the vp44 doesnt hold up I'll get the Fass. Not sure if mine is stock, bought truck from Dodge and 140k miles and from what I've heard it is the original, but this pickup did get alot of the dodge addons since it was used as their personal car hauler.

There isn't a pump in the tank. That's the main problem. The stock Carter pump has to pull fuel all the way from the tank to the engine where the pump is located. Fuel pumps are better at pushing than pulling fuel and the pullling is what causes the Carter to weaken and die. I'm going to go try and find a FASS this weekend since I just started having problems with the Carter yesterday.

If you don't want to worry about electrical pumps, look into a RASP. It is all mechanical and pretty quiet, if noise is an issue. Read about it here.

Don't be !!
If I can do it, ANYBODY can do it !! It's the best thing I've done for my Ram yet.

does it eliminate the in tank pump?

YES
The FASS will be the only lift pump you'll need

were did you guys mount the filters and such?

I mounted mine back under the bed near the fuel tank. I spent the day installing mine, but i took my time and had a few other projects to do as well.

would i be capable to do the instalation my self?

ABSOLUTELY !!

how how often do you need to replace the filters?

I think 10-20K is about right. I plan on keeping my eye on my fuel pressure gauge, but 10-20K is whenI plan on switching them out

any feed back would be much appriciated!

Check these links out for some idea of what you're gettin into. I have more pics as well ( of course ... LOL ). Feel free to ask away !!

BD had a mechanical pump for an LP replacement. I'm still going to stick with the FASS (had a little talk with Mayfair today), but had someone try to talk me into dual BD (aka Carter) pumps as well as using the Holley Blue pump. I've heard of using the Blue, but am shying away from it due to its gas only use and the fact that its not supposed to be used for injected systems. Anyone else have an opinion on the Blue or the BD??

I did a bunch of research on electric pumps and I am going with the Walbro GLS 392. It is much cheaper than a FASS. I'll post pictures once I get started on the dual pump project.
