currently i am running 265 70 17's, and am thinking about 285 70 17's. does anyone know what changes this might do to my trucks performance ie power loss speedo changes? 04 2500 ctd auto. Thanks

I have the 285's and the changes are all that noticable. I didn't notice any power loss, the mileage dropped slightly, but I think that is because the odometer is off just a bit because of the bigger tires. I think the speedo is off about3 mph at 70 mph (not a big deal). I would reccomend the 285's just for the looks. I will say that the ride is a little rougher with the larger tires.

the guys at the tire shop told me that i might see a 3 mile an hour difference and maybe the shift points might change. i like my 20mpg on the highway so i dont know if its worth going up in size.

I have 35" tire and average 18mpg on the highway. I got 20mpg on a tank to Arizona from Norcal. The bigger the tire the more your RPM's drop giving you better highway mileage. City driving you will lose about 2mpg. More to push the bigger tires in stop and go. I also had my speedo calibrated for my 35" tires at the dealer. I average 17mpg mix driving. I had on 285's before my 35" and roughly the same mileage. I don't do alot of city stop and go driving. So it works for me. The 285's will have little effect on low band power. The285's will not have a big impact w/ thespeedo and mileage.

Mayfair-

Heprobably lost 2mpg on the lie-o-meter in the overhead console (which is giving a false reading now that his odometer is off). Hand calculated he probably lost less than 2mpg, however hand calculating it for him would be hard since, again, his odometer is probably off.
