atf +4 for the transmission. Also pull off your batt connections even if there isn't any corrosion and clean them up. That solved the problem for me.

TSB 21-010-06 saysfor1994-2003 Ram trucks, "... it is now recommended to use ATF+4."
I have heard zero complaints by people who converted over to ATF+4.

umm yea. word has it, Dodge has thier fingers in the $$ side atf +4. thats why they recommend it only!!

its also a bad idea to mix existing non synthetic with synthetic (atf +4) .

besides, if there are ovber 100k on the trans without proper maintenance, then it he would not be able to do a full flush without worries of problems later on. with a full flush he could convert..but dont mix em...

From the TSB:
NOTE: ATF+4® is backward compatible with ATF+3 , ATF+2, and ATF+. Additionally, ATF+4 can be used to top off vehicles that used ATF+3, ATF+2, or ATF+.
Regardless of whether Chrysler/Dodge has their fingers in the $$ side of ATF+4 doesn't matter, it's what these transmissions take, and using inferior kinds of automatic transmission fluid can cause more bad than good.

My truck is a 2005 and I am having some what the same problem where it will shift up then down then back up. On hard acceleration its fine. When I took it to my dealer he said he knew exactly what it was and said he just needs to tighten the bands and increase the line pressure. The thing that got me is that they want to charge me for this. I am still under the factory warrenty and I have the extended warrenty as well. They said it was a wear and tear part.

What do you guys think about this?? should I talk to a service manager.

p.s. This is the dealer that I totaled a curtousy loaner from so I do not want to push it to much..

Thanks

Adjusting the bands is required maintenance so, yes they should charge you for it.
