Thegreater the distance from the tow vehicle rear axle to the trailer axle is than the wheel base of the tow vehicle the easier it is to back up. That' s why bigger trailers are easier to backup. I used to have a 24 foot camper with an extended cab long bed truck it was a little challenging, then I traded to a 28 foot trailer it was easier to back up. Then I traded trucks to a crew cab long bed and it got difficult to back again. Now I have the quad cab truck long bedand same 28 foot camper, but the truck wheel base is shorter, it is easier again. Go slow and if needed pull forward a little to straighten up some, thenstart back again. Back in May I got all out of whack backing into a tight spot at the beach. I just pulled forward and lined her up a couple of times and I was in. When I got done I told the people that were stairing at me the whole time ( making me nervous) "It wasn't pretty but were in there now, shows over" and we all had a laugh.
You guys jinxed me. I got a couple racks of hay today and i needed to back them into my barn cause its going to rain. Anyways it took me ten minutes to get one in there!! The wife thought it was funny, what can I say you dont mess with a woman that can throw bales around.

Istill have associates in medford, ashland, phoenix (OR), and klamath falls over the hill..need a navigator, co pilot, back seat driver???????

It would be safer and faster to rent a trailer from uhaul or such up there vs haulin empty from here to there.
is the thing road worthy? do a bumber mount tow bar if it has a solid steel bumper.
which route ya takin???
oh yea, theres a nice tavern in portland (ok, many hours north of medford, that has free pool till 6pm and hot female bartender and wait staff!!! where do you think I had lunch when workin up there

The biggest trick is mind over matter--IF YOU DON'T MIND, IT DOESN'T MATTER!!! Seriously, I grew up with backing things up. First the tractors. Then the pickups. Then came the farm trucks. When we "graduated" to the over-the-road trucks, it all came naturally. Getting into some of those loading docks was a challenge. But I got my education in the big trucks real early. It was a 1980 cabover Kenworth and a 50' cattle trailer. The truck had no power steering!!! It took us all some time to learn it. And even those of us that some might consider professionals mess it up too.
I agree with the rest of the crowd. I have towed and even had to back large jets 747's, Airbus's, DC-10's, ect.. If I can see itI can put it wherever. With a airplane its a bit harder b/c you are using a towbar that creates 2pivits if you are backing up. Anyway I would much rather backa airplane than my 10 foot utility trailer. Like someone else said, go to a walmart or lowes lot late at night and just practice using your mirrors to back, The lines in the lot, hopefully straight, will help you figure out your trailer and how it backs, how soon, and how sharp. Good luck and dont feel bad at all.
