Default Axle Seal

Would anyone know where to get the socket for the rear axle nut that holds the wheel bearings in place. I need to replace the axle seals. But cant seem to find the socket to fit because of the flat sides on the nut rather than points like on a traditional six point nut. Thanks Scott

It is going to be a hard one to find. I just replaced mine and had to borrow the socket from a friends transmission shop.

I know that Cornwell tools has one. My neighbor drives a truck for them and he stopped by here the other day and we talked about this particular tool. I know that 2 1/2" was too small and 2 3/4" was too big. I went to the local Autozone and that was all that they had. I believe it is 2 9/16 but not 100% sure.

I know that at least someof the Dodge axles use a 2-9/16" rounded hex nut. If yours is 2-9/16", then OTC part number 6928 will fit. http://www.ntxtools.com/network-tool.../otc-6928.html
