Default Too Much Fuel PSI??

I've got my Walbro installed but it puts out 40+ PSI (my gauge only goes to 40 and its pegged. I thought there was a return line from the VP44 that the excess fuel flowed back to the tank. For some reason if I pressurize the fuel line at 40+ PSI, it stays there (even when engine is off). Also is the such a thing as too much pressure??? Sounds like I need a fuel pressure regulator but I'm not for certain.

At least you don't have to worry about not having enough when you need it? Kinda like the saying better have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I guess Not so sure..... Until you blow fuel through something [&:]G/L

It did blow fuel through the compression fitting of my check valve. I tightened it down and now it blows fuel out of the banjo fitting connected to the stock fuel filter. I am not turning it back on until I find out if the VP44 is going to blow next. I know that it is putting out way more than 40 PSI. You can hear the pump slowly bog down as the pressure gets higher and it goes for several more seconds after the 40 PSI limit is hit on the gauge.

There IS a return line from the VP-44 isn't there? Clogged / kinked ??

Also, I know when I did my FASS install there was a return line from there as well going to the fule neck.

Something definately sounds wrong.

Is 25 PSI too much? I've found a fuel pressure regulator that adjusts from 25-75 PSI that has a return line on it.

turn it as low as possable. . .that walbro pump will be able to supply all the fuel you would ever want at 25psi. . .heck, if you could turn it to 15 it would never drop.

That is the problem. I can't find any mid range regulators. They are either for carburettor engines 4-9 PSI or fuel injected 25-75 PSI. 25 is as low as I can find that will accept AN6 fittings.

Triton says that his is set to 22 PSI in this post.

So I guess 3 more wouldn't hurt. If anyone has any ideas please let me know so I can get my truck back on the road.

Also anyone know where I can buy one of those filler neck return fittings similar to what comes in a FASS kit? I don't want to have to drop the tank and drill another hole in it for a second return line!!!

You might try giving Walbro a call. I'm sure they have some type of regulator or know of one you can use. With a company like that they should know of a few tricks to tone down their pumps. BTW I read a thread from a pump company that said they literally blew a VP44 apart with 50psi.
