Ive been told to expect quicker spoolup on the turbo and a louder turbo. i keep a hand log of milage so i will let everyone know what happens.. another thing im keeping the stock filter housing and tubing for now until i can scrape up enough cash for the Ram air intake.

your best bet to see if there is any improvement is to put any power go fast goodies in their lowest settings or off, then do a before & after comparison of power. that's what I did with my ATS intake manifold and noticed right away that my truck wasnt downshifting as much when passing on 2 lane roads...

Thanks for the advice. this will be my first preformance mod. I finally got up the confidence to try something after all the good ideas you can get from this site.

Yes, without a doubt. gave a noticeable bump in power around 1700 rpms which is where I sit while on the hiway. When I did my research the banks users were reporting a loss in power, but they were not specific in where they lost it. It'll be interesting to see DTB's feedback since he's the 1st who is actually around today to talk about it (my search gave me all old posts on other forums).

This was easyer than i thought. start by removing all wires from the stud bolted to the original intake. Remove the dipstick bolt and push the dipstik tube out of the way.

Then disconnect the air tube from the manifold.

Unbolt the manifold from the engin and pull it off. you will then be able to see the grid heater and electrical wires to the heater.

Disconnect the wires by taking the nuts off. dont drop the copper jumper (looks like a flat copper plate between the two studs).

Remove the grid heater and clean off the old gasket material from both sides and from the engin.

place the new gasket on the engin and install the new bolts provided with the kit. be sure and use the thread lock and inser the correct end into the engin intake the threads look similar but the block side threads are different.

now install the bonding wire to the bottom stud of the grid heater and the bolt hole in the block.

next reattach the power wire to the grid heater.

Now is the time to make sure everything is tight before you put the new intake in place, otherwise you may have to take it back off again to have enough room to tighten things back up again.

Next slide the new intake over the studs and install the two gasket type wasers on the two bolts farthest from the engin. then place normal wasers on top of those then the nylock nuts. hand tighten everything check to make sure you dont have any wires pinched beteween the new intake or grid heater. then tighten everything down.

re attach the intake tube.

reinstall the dip stick with the new allen head crome bolt.

start it up and take the kids for a ride.

Local parts store?? I wish my parts store was that cool. Around here you go in to find much of anything for a diesel and you get the deer in the headlights look.

I had an Banks Hi Ram for the stock intercooler. Really will not feel a difference other than looks under the hood. I upgraded w/ Banks Techni Cooler that comes w/ a bigger Hi Ram than the one you use w/ the stock setup. You will feel better throttle response w/ that set up and turbo spool. EGT are lower on WOT.
