"Never store gasoline in the trunk of your car, unless it's in a container of some kind"

Lately bad fuel seams to be te catch all phrase from stealerships for denying warrenty claims
perhaps the new way of voiding out that super awesome lifetime warranty

We Cummins owners don't get that nice warranty.

All kidding aside. I'd call the state department that inspects the pumps. Here is TN the Department of Weighs and Means inspects every pump to insure the accuracy of the pump and that it despences the type of fuel specified. I'd call your local state department and explain what happened. Get them to test the pump for fuel quality and get a copy of it. This report is going to be your best friend when you take the gas station to court. Who is going to argue in court over the accuracy of the state department in charge of inspecting pumps??? Next hire a lawyer and sue the gas station for the repair bill, loss of use of the vehicle, the cost of the tank ofdiesel that you bought and anything else you can think of. The gas station isliable if the fuel is bad and they more than likely have insurance to cover their butts. It is notChryslers fault if you got bad gas, there fore they are not going to fix it under warranty. I personally would not let my insurance pay for the damage or let the gas station get away with selling you bad diesel.

A buddy that I work with had his oil changed at a quick lube place and they put on the wrong oil filter. The oil ran out of the car and ruined the engine a few miles down the road. The quick lube place made all types of excuses why it wasn't their fault. They were not going to give him a dime or repair the car. As soon as they got the letter from his attorney, they gave him all the info he needed to file a claim with their insurance. He got his engine replaced with a new one at their expense.

getting the pumps inspected and tested would be the first thing, i am the parts manager at a dodge dealer, we had almost the same exact thing
with a customer. when ordering the parts the second thing that happened was a call from cummins as to why we wanted 4 injectors and a pump
after they were told it wasnt a warranty repair and was fuel contamination, well ..they call the shots on the repair or the customer gives up the balance of the warranty on the engine. at their instruction the repair was to include both pumps and all the injectors not just the 4 bad ones. also we sent the fuel to a local lab (we are lucky to have one close) and they couldnt id what was mixed with the fuel. they guessed at some sort of solvent not a fuel.

After seeing more then a few of these "contamination" stories I know from now on I'll keep all my receipts when I fuel up just in case.

That ain't no joke. I tend not to get these receipts because I am not that into record keeping (I know bad habit) but I'm gonna start.

I started tonight when I filled up. Put an envelope in my center console, filled up put the receipt in the envelope. Better safe than sorry.
