Default reverse lights

So my reverse lights quit working last night. I checked the fuse and it is ok. I didn't check the bulbs 'cuz i figured what are the chances of them both going out at the same time. I figure there must be a relay or a switch on the tranny, but don't really know. Anybody got any ideas?? I'll check to see if there are any obvious bare wires that may cause a short.

Check the electrical ground...? A buddy of mine who was a Mechanic would have the rear ends go out in his Chevy trucks, the entire thing at once, it was always the eletrical ground... no idea if they even use that system anymore...

I had a 2000 dakota before my ram and the backup lights stopped working when it was still under warrenty and it was the switch in the tranny. dealer fixed.. shortly after warrenty was up they stoped again. i talked too a buddy of mine who is a dodge mechanic and he said it is a bitch of a job the tranny needs to come out and the whole valve body too. so I never fixed .. I sold the truck about a year later.

It happened to me about a year ago took it in under warranty and there is some reverse switch or relaythat had to be replaced in the manual transmission if you have one.

thanks guys. No, i am not under warranty anymore. I looked in my CHilton's manual about that reverse switch on the tranny and they make it sound like i should be able to reach it easily, since it is mounteed on the side of the tranny. I won't have chance to get to it until this weekend, but i will keep everyone posted.
I will also check them *****...i mean bulbs.

With both going out at the same time I would have to agree it sounds like the switch in the tranny. I did have problems with my '06. The tail light circuit board craped out on me, but it was only the passanger side, and it was under warranty.

Same problem here, replaced the tranny switch and still doesn't work. I ended up running a hot wire to the switch and then to the lights and now they work fine.
