Default "92 Cummins Performance

This has probably been addressed already, but here goes...

I have a Ram 250 5.9 L6 Cummins, 70K originial miles. I am towing about 6,000 lbs (Jeep on trailer) and I can only get 40-50 mph on decent hills and it starts to get hot 3/4 on temp gauge. I have changed the filter to a True Flow and noticed some difference. What else can I do for an improvement in performance. Also anyone know what gears this truck has.
(2wd Supercab,longbed).

All answers are appreciated.

Thanks,

Far as the gears go, only you can find that out. Check the rear axle for a nameplate on the dif cover bolts. It should say. Most liky your truck would be 3.54s or maybe 4.10s. If there isnt a nameplate raise the rearend and rotate your axle and count how many roatations your axle turns in relation to your tire.

As far as power and stuff goes, Id check out cummins forum. they have alot more support for cummins.

Plus, you rotate the driveshaft, not the axle.

You are aware that it doesn't matter which one you turn, they're connected.

probably didn't realize it because the cummins tech section is all f-ed up and the mods don't care enough to fix it.

If it doesn't burn gas, then it's out of sight, out of mind with them.

I've been wondering why there haven't been any new posts the last couple weeks.
