Wow man what are you replacing? We had a 2.5 ton lenox a/c unit, 40 gallon AO smith gas water heater, lenox 90 percent furnace and two brand new circuits put in for $4300 about two years ago and they did a great job too. But of course I know with these new minimum required SEER ratings, they had to almost double the cooling surface which means alot more copper...

For that kind of jack, I hope your geting more than HVAC done. I feel your pain, I dropped a big chunk of fire wood squarely on my big toe while standing on concrete in my socks....Ya that left a mark! The thing that really sucked was at the time I worked in a machine shop and HAD to wear steel toed shoes. I lost the toe nail a while later. Oh well this too shall pass. Hope you feel better.

well. . .I got two complete units. . .Amana16SEER 3ton variable speed heat pump, and a 96%variable speed furnace for the main, then a 14SEER2 ton compressor and an regular furnace for my upstairs. both units have reworked suply ductwork and aprilaire filters. I was quoted 3K more through two other companies. the one I went with, the owner lives next door to my mom![Wink](https://dodgeforum.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)
my old units were a RUUD 3ton main, and a 1.5ton up. the upstairs was doing ok, but was showing its age. the main unit belonged in a nursing home. it couldnt keep the temps below 78F, and that was at night. the furnace was another story, it was probably produceing carbon monoxide. both units were running about 50% efficient on the furnace, and only a 4-6SEER on the compressors. Already I am very pleased with both units. . .cooled my house down in less than 30 min (82F - 76F)

it will be good. . .when it is used, heat pump is used to 40F, then the gas kicks on after that, not many days where it gets that cold. . .but what blew my mind is it uses 3" PVC as the exhaust instead of the normal metal flue's![Big Grin](https://dodgeforum.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
oh, I also get a $300 rebate from Georgia Power for getting a heat pump[8D]
