why doesnt dodge make the tranny shift lower in rpm
another thing i dont get, is all the power is down below with the inline 6 cummins, why dont they shift sooner. mine will pull good early in the rpm range and then seem like its just revving the engine and not gain any power, so why dont they shift earlier ? it feels like i have gobbbs of power when i first shift into over drive at low rpms especially when goin up a steep incline
i've noticed mine doing this also.. when towing up a hill steep enough to make it shift out of overdrive.. after the crest of the hill.. it just stays rapped out at 2300 rpm or so... if im not using cruise i just lift off the peddle a little and it shifts.. if i stay in cruise.. it stays rapping like a mo'fu'er (pardon the ghetto slang)
Mine quits pulling at about 2400rpm, you can definatly feel where the powerband ends, yet the auto lets the engine rev up to 2800-3000 before shifting, pile-o-crap[8D]

dang I'm lucky then. . .usualy from the south side of Atlanta traffic is easier and less crowded, coming from the north side, there are three major interstates and a major state highway, one with 7 lanes that will come to a stand still, a 5 lane that will completely stop for 6 miles, a 6 lane that will crawl at 15-20mph, adn the state road of 5 lanes will be 10mph. . .this is from 6am till 11am. . .then it goes the other direction in the afternoon starting at 3pm and generaly easing up around 9pm.
atlanta has around 3 million residence, but another6-7 mill commute in every day.
