Well, I finally got a cummins. Its a 2002 2500 laramie slt 4x4 quad cab with 52K on the ticker. We traded in our 06 suburban with 40K and man oh man I can't believe the difference. This thing has power to spare, but it most certainly is a truck-the ride is completely different. I did the code check by turning the key three times and nothing popped up so thats a good thing. How long do the lifter pumps usually last on these things and is it really necessary to run an additive? It does pretty well on fuel- for a half a tank it has gone 300 miles so I'm not sure how much an additive will help with the economy. I just want to make sure that the ULSD will not hurt the injectors or the injector pump. I'm happy to have found this forum and btw it rocks.
