My $0.02 is go with a filter(stock) from Genos they're reasonable. Then get the XZT. I got it and it's fun and does slightly improve the mileage. I can even put down a puff of smoke if I want to. Not shut down intersections like Drew but a little smoke screenage anyway,

BTW, get a tube of Di- Electric grease and apply to the connectors for the XZT when you install it. I didn't and had some slight problems. After I put the D.E. grease on the connectors no more worries.

My mileage is up 1 - 1.5 mpg with it. I got a good deal from Ken at Ken's Performance Products. Go to his web site get his number and give him a call. He is great to deal with. You're welcome.

I would get it. You will increase your hp between 5-10. K&N will waranty it for one million miles.
You'll love. They also have cleaning kits too. Bout 25 bucks.

You probably don't know what bad mileage is unless you have a 454 Chevy 3500

Like the Amsoil filter?
Not sure which one would be the best choice. I do know that the AFE cleaning kit does not get all of the dirt out, even after multiple passes with the cleaning solution. I ultimately did the suggested simple green dunk with my CONE filter (not suggested with a drop in) and it came out pretty clean. not having anymore AFE oil, I opted for the K&N which I had plenty of. One problem I found was the oil did not seep into all of the pleets like it should have (pleets are pretty deep on this filter) so I rigged up a suringe and filled the inner pleets on a 2nd pass. The one downside to the bucket-o-simple green is it takes a long time to dry. mine went overnight and I still had cleaning solution in there. I think there needs to be a better way to dry the filter w/o damaging it.

alot of guys here are in the upper teens on the hiway, my truck as it sits can pretty easily get 17's on the hiwaywith an average of 15.

the cleaning kits are about $9 bux but that is not the best way to go... you can buy the cleaner & oil in bulk and it's alot cheeper. I'll be going that way next time around if I stick with the K&N cleaning for my AFE filter. Alot cheeper in the long run.

Believe it or not I'm baby stepping my way into finding out what the best setting is for me. My first week I drove the truck on level 2 with a sub setting of level 3 and I got 13.5 mpg down from about 14.5. Last week I had it set at level 2 with a sub setting of level 4 and I got my best mileage ever 15.3, although I did do more highway driving that week.. I am now driving it set on level 3 with a sub level of 2. We'll see. I'll take level 3 all the way up to a sub level of 5 and whatever gives me the best results will be where I set the Edge and leave it.
