Eggs do not harm paint, the shell can chip the paint but anything else should be able to be buffed out no matter how long it sits. Im sure it will need to be repainted because of the chip or "dent" in the paint, or atleast I would have it done at the hooligans expense.
If you truely belive that, go crack an egg onto your car and let it sit over night, please report back your result with before and after photos.

on mine it sat for a few days befor i could clean it. And when I did the only damage was the chiped paint from the egg shell.

You would be a lucky one Black Cloud. It may have to do with the wax on the car or the clear coat (or lack of) on the car. I am by no means an expert, I have not seen thousands of these incidents, but I have seen probably 10-12 in my lifeand I have never seen an egg NOT do damage to paint, and not just scratches from the shell breaking

There is something with the protiens in the egg yolk or the sulfur in the egg I believe is what causes the problem. If you wash it immediately you should be OK, but after it has set for a bitI have heard of people washing with vinegar and water or using a mixture of peroxide and water, and reducing the damage, but after it has completely dried I think it is too late for that.

I've had my truck egged by a former ladyfriend. It sucked, but what can you do? I figured it was payback for some of the stupid stuff I did when i was a kid.

The egg dried and yeah, it ate the paint. I never had it repaired but to fix it it DID need to be repainted. All of the buffing in the world wasn't gonna bring that back.

Let me rephrase that. Eggs wont harm the clearcoat except for chipping or scratches. And isnt vinegar more acidic then egg yolk or white? I had a professor in college put an egg on his hood and let it sit for 8-10 hours (cant remember) to prove to the class that it wouldnt do anything, and this was a $30,000 BMW. When we came back and checked the egg at the end of the day it was completely cooked and left a ring on the paint from where it had been, but with a little vinegar and some buffing it came out in under 5 mintues.

Forgot to mention. Lacquer bases will be affected by eggs, but they are pretty much non-existant now except for some cheap body shops still use it to save money.
