Default radiator concerns

Radiator sprung a leak so I shopped for a new one. Ended up with the $300 one from advance. Napa-$450, DC $550. Just got it home and it's about 1/2 to 3/4inches thinner than the origional. Am I gonna have troubles or are they able to make them lighter with the same capacity now. Any help will be appreciated. I'm not cheap but 150 bucks is considerable, thanks.

I have the same truck and bought the same radiator from Advance. After 2 years it still cools fine.

Thanks for the input. A little hard to believe 1/2 the radiator will still do the job but it's working for you...

Most radiator shops can fix a leaking radiator for a fraction of thecost of a new one. My 1500 sprung a leak and it cost $69 to fix it with a one year warranty, or $325 for a new one from Autozone. Needless to say, I chose the $69 fix. The guy even clean it out, flushed it and pressure tested it at no extra charge.

Thanks alot for the input. The new radiator is in with no problems yet. I'll hang on to the old one and have it ready just in case. Nothing like spending $350 to make the truck just like it was two weeks ago. Having it out sure made replacing the front seal and the vac pump seal alot easier.
