im going to install a egt gauge in the near future. is it accurate post turbo,(i've heard it reads about 200 degrees lower than actual). whats a good gauge, im thinking of using isspro. my concern of mounting probe pre turbo is the debris from install or broken end of probe ruining my turbo. thx,,,,,,

pre turbo will tell you if your about to melt a valve. . .and the turbo. . .post turbo will only tell you if your getting close to melting the turbo.

the closer to the heat source you get the probe the more accurate the readings will be.

I have one pre and one post, on a switch with my edge. I have seen as high as 300 deg difference, but that is when the engine was "cool" (not all warmed up, just barely at 185 coolant temp) and punching it in 5... but I on cool down higher numbers on post are very possible... It all depends on what you are doing when driving. I love the pre and post, but it depends on why you want to EGT in the first place, if you want it to prevent burning valved then you want it pre, if you want to not kill turbo then post (you can make sure you are cooled off before you shut down). If you just want to monitor temps and prevent overheating all around then either works, just keep in mind the temp limits recommended. I think the recommendations are 1300 (at most) pre and 1000 (again at most) post? (I am not 100% on that one, I don't go above 1200 pre,if I can help it )
Just my 2 cents!
