HELP!! 1999 Cummins diesel
I bought my 3500 4X4 Ram new in 1999, now has126,000mi. It's been flawless - except yesterday. I stopped in a prkg lot for 10min, came out and it wouldn't fire. It's ALWAYS kicked off in less that 2revs! I bled the fuel filter container, elec fuel filter is working, fuel at top of canister. I just changed the fuel filter3,000mi ago. No blown fuses. Tried spraying WD40 through intake while cranking...nothing. I filled with fuel the day before. My daughter had the ignition ON (not acc) for about 5min before I got back to the truck to start it - that's the only thing out of the ordinary. It cranks well, all gauges working.
ANY IDEAS???

RE: HELP!! 1999 Cummins diesel
It's just the weirdest thing!!! Like there is a "kill switch" turned off.
I was hoping someone would tell me there's a reset button somewhere
I'll probably go out and put another fuel filter in today and see if that works, but I was told the WD40 would allow it to fire if it's a fuel problem (kinda like ether for a gasoline-carbed engine).
Then have it towed to my local diesel house if it doesn't work.

RE: HELP!! 1999 Cummins diesel
Disregard my previous post(brain fart)thinking of how the codes flash on my dakota, do the same process with the ignition, the odometer should flash codes in a po#### i.e po1693(which is a ghost code, doesn't relate to any problem followed by other po#### codes) someone posted the codes on this forum under 2gen ram I think, if not a haynes manual lists them
