Default 6.7L Fuel Filter Draining [PIC]

I finally got around to draining my fuel filter at 5800 miles. The 6.7L Cummins has a different fuel filter than the 5.9L and is drained differently. The star-shaped stopcock must be opened a couple of turns (don't unscrew too far or it will come out completely). Little or no fuel will drain out until you turn the ignition on (but don't start) for a few seconds to energize the lift pump. I placed a mason jar on top of my differential to catch the fuel. No water was present in my fuel.[hr]

Thanks for the tip, Colonel. I tried opening mine when I changed the oil, and only a little bit dribbled out. I guess I should have read the manual!

That's the thing, it wasn't in the manual. Just said drain the fuel filter regularly. I was like you. At first only a little dribbled out. I'm thinking WTF?!? Then I tried a couple of seconds with the ignition switch on and the valve open. Bingo!
