I keep hearing from everyone that dodge has the weakest front ends and that they have had trouble for years. Other than ball joints failing every 50,000 km what else do they have up front that is weak? I have a 2004 dodge ram 2500 4X4 and I cant see anything upfront that is weak. The coil springs seem strong enough and i dont see any peices bending? what is weak up there?

 

does the solid front axle bend after a while lol? like really? are the calipers or hubs weak?

 

right now the only weak spot are the ball joints. . .

however DC has been rating the axel loading rather low to keep up from hauling more than 26,001 with these trucks. they will do it, but not legaly. I have yet to have any problems out of my axels.

 

98k miles on the stock ball joints. No slop in any of them and I drive up some pretty nasty gravel roads every weekend. What front end problems?[8D]

 

this is mostly for the 3rd gens. . .the ball joints on the AAM axels are a bit softer than those on your Dana, plus they are sealed[:@]

 

everyone i know cuts dodge front ends down. i personally myslef like the truck. i was just wondering what makes them weak?

 

well i hope all is wrong because i am a few breaths away from getting my snow plow installed that i purchased earlier this year

 

whats a aero 4040? also what is the aero that replaces the cat? what does it do?

 

It is just a muffler.

 

Seems a lot of issues with trac bars have been reported.
I've personally had issues with the front brakes, but that's not really a suspension issue.
