I've always heard that the D-serite frames were weak and they could handle much more than stock diesel power. I also see people talking about having umpteen hundred foot-pounds of torque in an old ram. So,which is it. I ant to build a tow rig complete with oodle of torque, but I need toknow the limit going into it.

I think there were some frame issues on pre production trucks when they were trying to marry the Cummins engine to the Dodge truck, but I have not heard of any on production trucks.
