Hey Ben D., I went Mano-a-Mano at 160' to 200' depths below the rigs. What was your depth? Of course I had an oxygen suppy, with additional backup supply. I think my fish died of steel poisoning....................right thru the head !
spearfishing that has to be pretty fun to do. I've never tried it before but it's definately on my list of things to do before I croak. along with going bear hunting in archery and elk with a bow as well. but spearfishing that has to be a rush especially at those depths. my hat is off to you.
Thanks Ben....................I walked away from it while I was still in good health. Prior to that, the dive community in New Orleans and Baton Rouge lost 3 divers to accidents. Thats when I figured that I was nuts for pushing my limits for what...............a damn fish.

I've been spear diving, howeverI wasn't the one spearing, I was there to take the pictures. My friend got rammed in the chest by a Bull shark looking for food that was hanging on my friends belt while he was decompressing. Not only did he, butI too crapped my wetsuit.

EFF THAT !!!

I'll stick to catching them on a rod and reel.

Yeah Mayfair...........I'm stricly a rod an reel kinda guy too. It is rare that divers have been injured by sharks, but of course dangling an apitizer off your stringer didn't help. I've seen some cool things while under the rigs, one that comes to mind......My wife and I were sight seeing in the top 20' and I came across a octopus about 12" across. I managed to pull him off the rig leg, but then the little bugger did a gotcha on my hand. All I could think about was him going to town on my hand with his beak, so the wife and I stated trying to pull him off. He could figure out we were determined so when he was half way off, he decided to give up, inked me and dissappeared ! It was one of those mini panic times when ya say, w t f !

I'd rather fish at Cabella's.
