Default guy says 17x9 wont fit ?

hey guys, i finally ordered my 5" lift kit from tuff country, and ordered wheels and tires one night an the next day the company called me (4wheelparts.com) and told me that 17"x9" will not fit on my truck. any 17"x9" wont fit for my 2002 dodge ram 2500. which i dont get because there is a few people on here who have 17x9's WHAT THE F&%$ !! he told me i need to buy 18"s and up which are about 500$ more maybe he was just trying to make more money

I have a hard time believing that 17x9's won't fit. And if they don't, why would they tell you to go larger? Factory rim for the 04's is 17x8 and I imagine that the 02 would be the same. The only thing I can think of is if the offset would interfere with something and you need the extra height to clear something. But still, what's a 1/2 inch in each direction really going to accomplish.

I would say you are fine with 17x9's, but that's just my opinion. Good luck
