This hood has nothing to do with the air induction to the breather. On the SRT- 10's they may , but on this application, it's just a hole in the hood. It does however allow a degree of cooling air over the engine and as important, the compressor for the Pacbrake. The Pacbrake has a thermo fuse that will tripp under extreme temps. That happened once to me towing the 5'ver up the switch backs into Yellowstone this past summer. All it did was shut down, and after cooling a bit, resumed it's service.

I've always liked the way that Triton'sand Sharx's truck looked with the cyclop's thing going on, and I thought, why not on a dually?

I get all "scientific and ****" because that's how I am. There's too much BS, myth, and half-assed info floating around (ain't the internet a wonderful thing...).
I have a "thing" for technical accuracy...sorry if that bothers you, or anyone else.

As for who I am and what I do (as if it really matters)...

Retired Air Force (two career fields - Russian linguist and system administrator).

I am a licensed pilot (for the last 29 years), I also own, fly and teach powered paragliding.
I spent several years skydiving, then switched to SCUBA (PADI certified).
I do custom woodworking on the side (I build custom furniture, humidors, etc)
I collect guns and do a lot of shooting (used to shoot IPSC competitively)
I do a few webpages for some local businesses on the side
I raced motocross in my teens. Worked on, built, etc a lot of bikes.
I did some bracket racing as a hobby. Father was a race mechanic for many years, so learned engine building from him. Had a few hotrods over the years.
I've built a couple telescopes from scratch (including hand grinding the mirror glass).
I've been around the world several times.
I have broad interests in all things scientific, motor sports, shooting sports, extreme sports, etc.
I want to "do" all the things I can while I can before I get too old to do them.

Anyhting else you'd like to know?

BTCRUZ, man I meant no disrespect whatsoever, I was just enamoured by your pursuit for technical accuracy. I am sure you know what I do because you have been around the forum long enough to read it somewhere so you can understand my need for accuarcy as well. I am not sure where you got the "scientific and ****" quote, but that was not me and I would like the record to reflect that. I was just curious what life experiences lead to the wealth of knowledge you seem to possess.

Sorry, didn't mean to attribute the quote to you.

I just like a lot of things and get involved in all sorts of stuff (much to my wife's dismay) I'm always curious as to how and why things work and never happy with accepting a cursory explanation. I gotta find out the details!

Heh, twoforme, I dunno that I'm a nerd per se, I do go outside a lot [sm=smiley16.gif]
