Default Lift Pump problems (GPH?)

Hi can anyone tell me how to know what "GPH" of alift pump to get for my 2003 cummins (100k). Hoping that is what is wrong with it, I haven't changed the filter yet (parts stores are closed right now) but i did try to wash it out with diesel. It dosen't look like there is any pressure, none to little fuel in the filter. I killed over and I tryed to nurse it home, It would run a few and then die agian. Now it won't do anything, I hope I didn't screw up the injector pump. I have been trying to find a stock fuel pump online but havent had any luck, does anyon know how much they cost. I was reading about a FASSsystem but can't aford it yet.
Thanks,

it does sound like your lift pump has had it's days. Typical of a 03 with 100K on it. A FASS is one option but, here's another which would be the one I'd put in... http://www.glacierdieselpower.com/pr...?pf_id=3920345

You won't find a stock pump from Dodge. They replaced that unit with an in-tank pump which is a bigger piece of cr@p in my opinion. I'd buy an after market pump like a Walbro and place it as close to the tank as possible. These fuel pumps are made for pushing fuel.

tritons system is great...i know he has had awesome success with it! i also have the FASS in my truck, but have minor upgrades compared to triton. my fuel pressure stays right at 17 all the time, never drops and with the edge on the stocker it was dropping to 0 if i got on it.

good luck on what ever u choose!

WHATEVER you decide to go with, STOP trying to run your truck until you get it replaced. Otherwise you WILL be replacing your injection pump as well.

I thought they got rid of the VP44's in 2003. Isn't his truck a common rail???

It doesn't matter about which IP he's running, trying to run it with out a lift pump can still ruin it. You geta little safety margine with the CP3 but it can and will still die with out a lift pump. BTW a little interesting math....If you assume 15 mpg and running at 70 MPH you would consume 4.67 galllons per hour.

Sorry I ment "It" killed over". But I just got it running, I finally found a guy in town who carried the oem lift pump (225+tax); it was the last one he had. Too broke to buy a filter now but I washed the one that was on it and it runs great. It was very simple to change, but a soon as I have the money I think I'm going with the FASS system, mainly because of the filter system it has ( if anyone has a suggestion on what "gph" to go with please let me know). I think the pump must have been going bad for a while now cause she seems to have a lot more pep now. I was worried sick all night and all day but I guess I lucked out.
Thank God I didn't screw up the injector pump!!!!

Thanks guys for for all the responses.
