Default Oil for 6.7 Cummins

Dodge dealer tells me only oil they know of reccomended for this engine is the oil they sell at 20.00 a gallon and its the only oil warranty is covered. Does this sound right? Is this engine that complicated that this is true? For them to change its gonna cost me 120.00.

That's a bunch of BS. Read the manual; it states you need to use a CJ-4 oil. I believe the mineral CJ-4 oils are 15W-40 and the synthetics are 5W-40. Some ofthe choices are:

Mineral
Shell Rotella
Valvoline All Fleet
Chevron Delo 400

Synthetics
Amsoil DEO
Valvoline Premium Blue
Shell Rotella T
Castrol Hypuron (semi-synthetic)
