Default Hard Starts continue.

I am still having hard starts with my truck. I got it back from the dealer for the second time and they said it was an algae problem. So I ran some biocide and after a week pulled the filter and it looked new. There was no contamination whatso ever on the filter. They ran all there checks but have not been able to diagnose the problem. It will start up but only after alot of cranking and it does not throw any codes. Getting real tired dealing with Dodge on this issue. Any techs out there who can help me in LI ny? What rights do I have under the Lemon Laws as i have owned the truck for less than six months and it has been serviced twice for the same problem. Going on three.

Lemon law rights apply if you're the original owner with three complaints regarding the same problem within one year. Safety related systems three complaints in two years. If your vehicle has been in the dealership service center more than 30 days.

Nope it runs fine once started. I have the mechanics notes on what he did to test the truck out. Now I notice that the batteries are showing that they are weak. The needle is showing to the left of the half mark.

Is this your dealer?

The volts are always going to be to the left of the half mark, unless the truck is running. Also, the batteries are going to be weak if you have to crank it a long time to get it started.

Mine will get a little pissy about starting sometimes. There is a flash out for some trucks for the hard start issue. I have decided not to get the flash for fear of them killing something else (like fuel economy). What I do is this. First I never try to crank the engine until the 6 chimes stop chiming (they only chime if you don't have the seatbelt on when you turn the key to on). Next I only let the engine turn for 4 - 6 revs (or what sounds like 4 - 6 revs anyway). If it doesn't fire I let off the starter for 2 - 3 seconds and hit it again. 95% of the time it fires on #2, if not I repeat the process. It has only taken athird attemp a hand full of times. It usually hits right away, but sometimes it gets a little cranky and does this for a day or two, then it goes away.

If you havn't done so, I would take the Hypertech off and see if it is still hard starting. (We have had some problems with a couple of programmers.) If that's not it, I have seen some intermitant problems with the crank sensor.
