3.00 at Murphy near me, they seem to keep the price down the lowest and for the longest time, they held 2.86 when every one else was getting 3 plus a month ago.

90 bucks to fill up, damm that hurts, I remember how happy I was driving diesel and it was cheaper than gas and you could fill up for less than 70 bucks.

So if you all up north have a warm winter the diesel prices will come back down.

I am not sure how many saw it,
but last night on "Nightly Business Report"
they had about a 5 minute report
about a 'Disaster Preparedness Practice'
where ex-Government officials
(like Richard Rubin, ex-EPA chief Carol Browner & Army General Abizaid)
played like they were the President's cabinet
in response to 'what could happen'

First, Terrorists hit oil pipelines flowing through remote mountainous areas.

Second, Iran begins with holding 350,000 barrels of oil per day from sale in protest of US sanctions

Third, Hugho Chavez in Venezuela responds to Iran and also with holds 350,000 barrels per day

At this point after 3 hits, the US economy is going into recession with gasoline over $4.50 per gallon and inflation rising and employment falling.

Then, as a fourth hit,
a strong hurricane hits both the Mexican and US offshore oil fields taking out 50% of those well's production....and the hurricane ends up its life hitting the Houston area taking out 15% of refinery production.

The USA was in real trouble at this point,
but the unfair thing was
oil prices rose so much
that both Iran and Venezeula had MORE money per month
even selling less oil
and could afford to with hold even more oil from the world market.

And here lies one of the issues. Prices seem to spike lately on a lot of what if's. While yes all these things are possible, and I hope someone in the proper position has a plan if something happens, but oil spikes several dollars a barrel on the slightest of fears lately. Each new fear spikes prices, but when the fear eases the prices don't and get passed along to the consumer. I'm getting tired of paying more based on what if.
