Any body here own what are so called "aggressive dogs'
I have thought about getting a good ole black lab, what is everybodys thoughts on them? I like smart dogs more than anything else, it is so fun to give them a challenge and then watch them work it out.
I had a black lab and I swear it was one of the stupidest dogs I've ever owned. I know that the labs as a breed have a reputation for being smart, but this dog was just absolutly dumb.[sm=lol.gif] Completely lovable and friendly just downright dimwitted.
One of the smartest and friendliest dogs I've ever had was a siberian husky. Fun dog, high energy. I'd get another if I had the space for him to run. Keeping one cooped up in the house just isn't the best for such a high energy dog. Dang, I miss that dog....

My wife likes them siberian huskies, me too actually. I didn't know if they liked the heat and stuff though. I live near St.Louis MO, we have winters, but the summer can get to 110 with a pretty decent amount of humidty, think that would be a problem for the huskies?
hey roby...what kinda dog is that? Ohh and savage...what kind of dogs are those...cute lil things. My girlfriends sister has a rat terrier/beagle mix cuuute dog. And gf has a bisgon(sp?!?), little white dog that kinda looks like a poodle. Now that dog is smart. He'll wait to eat until he gets really hungry or til the family gets back when their out.
Well Savage, I live in Indianapolis. Can't imagine our weather would be that different than yours. My husky never seemed to mind the heat, although he tended to lay around the house or in the shade middle of the day when it was hot. They actually shed a good deal of the heavy coat when the heat goes up and will shed basically all spring/summer/fall (so, have a good vacuum handy).... But, was never a big problem as far as I could tell. He did prefer to go roll around in the snow though.
Speaking of eating when he is hungry..... My smart dog Westin (the brown one), dosen't eat very much at all, he only eats his actuall dog food and refuses treats and/or table food. Wylee (the dumb one) eats so fast it is like on eof those dog food commercials were all the food flies out of the bowl and goes all over the ground. Anyway, Westin is rarely hungry at feeding time and he knows that Wylee will eat his food if he dosen't, so what he has figured out to do is..
we feed them in their own kennels and their bed is in the back of the kennel and the food bowl is in the front. The doors on the kennels are always open (on Westin's anyway). The beds are those type that are flat in the middle with the big rolled puffy rim. So basically when we put the food in his bowl he takes how ever much food he thinks he will need to eat later and puts it just inside his bed, right up next to the big rolled edge, then he leaves and goes on about his business. Then when Wylee gets done eating (5 secs) he comes over to Westins kennel and looks in the bowl and eats what is in there, but isn't smart enought to actually come inside the kennel and look around
. Later when they go to bed, Westin will eat up his small portion of food that picked out earlier. I have attached a diagram to explain...

wow, that is pretty smart! nicely done. Madison(rat terrier mix) was a rescue from ohio (i'm in md) she inhales her food and was really snippy about it in the beginning, we think it was cause of how she lived the first few weeks of her life. I will get a rescue when i graduate...either a german shorthaired pointer or beagle or dalmation. I love all three of those breeds.
Hey Chewy, that's a nice looking lapdog you have there!
Looks like a good size pup...what's he weigh?

Here is a little better pic of her size:

Savage - rotts are not warm weather dogs either, so when we are not at the lake, here is what we use to keep her cool Cheap and easy.....
