might have to do a do-over on the 2nd test up there, got stuck in traffic 3x and was slowed to a crawl. that's what I get for leaving earlier than normal on Friday...(started an hour earlier)

for the thread watchers... I ran into stop & go traffic 4x on this tank so it might be a do-over at some point down the road. I'm set now at 2/3/e and climbing the hills is soo much easier. it'll be interesting to see wherethe tanksat in 200 miles or so...

Sorry to hear about the traffic.

If ya get stuck in traffic again
consider watching the gallons and timing how long
it takes to tick over either 1 gallon or 0.1 gallons.

The gasoline 5.9V8 uses 0.6 gallons per hour with the AC off
and 0.8 gallons with the AC on.

I bet the Cummins can idle with less fuel than that.

Some of the 18 wheel truck bigger Cummins I6 engines have an option
to turn 5 cylinders off and idle with one cylinder.
I have been surprised that some of the bomb boxes have not added that as an option for the 5.9 I6.

I will have a do-over on the 2/3/e with additives... 16-psd/16 2stroke. filled up this morning and got 18 mpg again. 3 round trips to work & back & 1 extra down the hill from work but not all the way home. this morning coming in on the tank with additives I noticed it climbed hills even easier than the previous tank w/o the additives. Unfortunately, it's friday so I'll have to start over after thanksgiving (only work 3 days next week), plus Jr & I are going wheeling (him in the Dak) on Sunday...

I figure I'd be in the 20's if I had stock tires on it... I might try to borrow/rent a set of stock tires for testing that theroy out.

If possible and you find a Ram with stock tires
see if you can convince him to do a MPG test in 'convoy style' with you
...then swap tires and repeat.

Double or triple truck testing convoy style
is by far the best MPG testing
because it cancels out air temperature, wind, and pavement differences
because each truck sees the same change in conditions.

Swapping mods onto a single truck
leaves you open to the extremely confusing whims of the weather
which can quickly change MPG entirely on its own so much
that small effects of the mod being looked at are hidden...or even apparently reversed.

This kinda like a single sniper firing at a far away target
as the wind is changing.
If two snipers fire at about the same time and their bullets drift in the same direction they get a clue that it is not their ammo or rifle causing the variation, and the two snipers can compare how 'tight' their holes 'group' on the two targets to see how their equipment is behaving.

I dont think the weather has been that much of a factor in the last tests I've done to work & back... we havent had any storms come thru during testing and the weather has been pretty consistant. If that is an issue during any tank of testing I'll note it in the top post with the data. Keep in mind that the testing has been too & from work with minimal detours. It gives me approx 170 miles a day/510 miles in a 3 day period so I've limited my testing to 1x/week... unless I know I'm heading up there on the weekend.
