TST mpg testing thread... (using it to track data)

I did not believe that a light 4-7 mph wind would affect MPG either
until I began measuring the MPG on the travelling east leg of my test loop from Fuquay-Varina NC to Wilmington NC on I40, and found 2 to 4 MPG differences as soon as I changed directions at Wilmington.
I also did not believe that blacktop/versus concrete made much MPG difference, until I noticed that the MPG always started climbing as soon as I hit the concrete pavement 30 miles east of Fuquay-Varina as I was heading west nearing the end of the test loop.
Later when I purchased the Fuel Economy Calculator software program from Kevin at PerformanceTrends I found that his wind speed corrections for headwinds, tailwinds and sidewinds were highly accurate...and surprising. I had not thought sidewinds made any real difference...and I was wrong.

Hank, did you ever play with your TPS adjustment to see if that ever helped mileage?
not sure how the CTD's are setup as far as a TPS goes but on a gasser it might make a difference. for the 3.9/5.x motors the ideal # is .7~.75 volts off the signal line. my thought here is if setting the tps signal improves throttle response, maybe backing off it some might lean it out a tad at cruising throttle positions. what do you think?

this run on the stock air filter is not going too well... I'm no where's near the 18's I had with the same setup & the AFE. Runs way different too, seems to be slower to rev, boost comes up sooner and it seems like there is more low end torque. you wouldnt know it by the mileage though. I'll update the top post tomorrow when I get to work. should be over 1/2 tank by then.
