Default check it out, any ideas?

Ok, so what do you guys think about this.... I am looking for some type of rollcage/bed/rack/cargo storage/etc etc. I briefly thought about taking off my bed and replacing it with some type of rediculous custom roll cage looking thing, but then quickly came to my sinces. So this is the best thing I have found so far...

....I am thinking that maybe I could get a big piece of black canvas to cover the top and then it would hang down the sides (like a soft top), I could attach it at the top cross member and let it hang down to the lower cross member, but if you wanted you could roll it back up to the top one for a more open look (depending on what you were carrying in the bed). I could also mount my Hi-Lift jack and other things to the lower cross member, and my four-wheeler or mountain bikes could stay in the bed, the the tailgate up, out of the sun(and kinda out of the rain). The only problem is that the rack pictured costs about $1000 shipped, so does anybody else know of any other brands or people that make these kinds of things?

thanks-

Are you wanting an enclosed top or open?

Build one or talk to a local welding shop. It would be simple to build.

If you have a utilitarian purpose for then by all means get one.Just how useful for me, I don't know. If you have to haul something, say a tall refrigerator, is theroof railin back removable?

I guess to hang outdoor/camping/fishing stuff, canoes, handi-man jack, etc., it'd be pretty useful. But, I wouldn't want to attach too much stuff to it, because it would be on display of what you had for others to steal. (Out of sight, out of mind. Hide your stuff.)

I would say your better off to get the roll-up cover because is the picture you posted tall enough to fit a four-wheeler? My topper has 2 long doorson side and a long back door and you keep tailgate on, and its to short to put fourwheeler under and its as tall as my cab. Just a thought, the roll up you can cover when cruising with smaller stuff, but fold up when hauling anything bigger.

Yeah surprisingly my little hinda rancher would fit under the rack pictured, but even if it didn't then it would be OK, but I would like it to be able to go in there. Idealy I would like to carry my fourwheeler around with me all the time, where ever I go, cause I never know when I need it . God knows our trucks wouldn't even feel the 500lbs of four-wheeler back there.

I never use my truck for "work", so the refridgerator thing would never be an issue. I do however use my truck for...
I guess to hang outdoor/camping/fishing stuff, canoes, handi-man jack, etc., it'd be pretty useful.
.... and haveing stuff stolen isn't an issue for me either, my truck never leaaves my sight all day (when I drive it).

Oh yeah, also with the toolbox out (which I would have to do), the four wheeler fits in just perfect with the tailgate up.
