If you wanted a new career and you enjoy road trips and as little pencil pushing as possible I would suggest it. Evan though I am away from my family alot every fifth week I get to spend with them without having to worry about work.

I carry around a maxtair 150 to do stick or tig welding,u must be cautious not to flip breaker but if u stop when the fan start its really nice, but i also carry a set of vise to jack right into the electrical panel when breaker are weaks....
the 200 is a nono when u move alot around, breakers cant whistand it anyway...
but if u stay at the same place, get a 20amp breaker and ull be good.
I got a Wolfpack 200 in my truck when no currant is available, really like this thing too,HONDA
start everytime

I'd love to learn how to weld. I even have a Lincoln mig welder in my garage, butI don't know anyone who welds that could teach me how to use the thing.

Get out there and play with it for a while you may be a natural. I am not a Natural I have to work at my welds all the time just to keep them up to par.

I hear that all the time. hing is, I don't have access to scrap metal to even mess around with. Even if i did, I wouldn't even know where to turn the dials and stuff. I'd probably wind up killing myself.

I know that there are some scrap metal shops in Phillie. As far as the dials go start low and go up from there. Just don't catch yourself on fire.

That's the same way you were talking when you got your Ram. Now you've put in Mag Hy-tec pans, gauges, Edge, blockheater/batterycharger, and a pot handle
All of that turned out well.
You just need to get some scrap from a scrap yard and start tacking stuf together. Then cut it apart and see what your welds look like from the inside to learn what it takes to get good penetration. haha

hey mayfair
put amp at 20 and wire speed at 350 than from there more the tip sideway about 1/4 wide and go as weld build up...if he weld is big and bully add more current,if the weld is too flat add wire...
the sound it make is the best way to adjust the welder properly,u dont want some CRAC CRAC CRAC
u want a continuous sound CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAC
adjust ur gas to 25lbs if u got some gas to go whit it,else u have flux cored wire...

set the amps, or some of the small mig welders have pictures to adjust to the thickness of the metal you are working on. then set gas around 20psi. It should sound like bacon sizzling sorta, nice smooth sound. I used to "fix" the guys welds at the place I used to work, he was always having trouble so I would see or hear him welding and I would walk up and adjust his wirespeed while he was welding.
It just comes down to practice, a little goes a long way. and a Wirefeed is almost childs play, yes even you could do it Mayfair!
