Wire or stick? if wire just buy one with aluminum and the whole shabang. We got lucky when ours went out and it was on sale, buy the tanks, welder and like 2 deals of wire and get aluminum gun free with a roll of wire.

TIG. It is a Maxstar 150 STL. It it about the only welder that will meet my needs. Lincoln has started making one but I don't want to be the guinea pig for the company.

Yea we went with Miller, cause thats who we have always used. I have used one of the new lincolns and thought it was pretty cool, but we were also the pig for it (FFA) and had some trouble but suprisingly not much. We used it while making 3 trailers and only had it go down for a day before figureing out what was wrong. As for Miller I've never had trouble with them.

I have always been told if you put fuel in it get a Lincoln, if you plug it in get a Miller.

Correct me if I'm wrong , but the Miller Maxstar 150 is dc only or is itac or dc.
At the shop I work at we run the Maxstar 200 because of the 3 phase power supply.
They are pretty goodwelders. I think they run about 1500.00.
The cool thing is they have a smart chip that will run what ever power supply you
wire them up to theonly down side is when you start dropping from3 phase to 220
you lose amperage.

No they are AC/DC they will run on 110 or 220. I like the 200s better but are to big for moving around and have a problem with flipping breakers in the dairies that I work at.

Anybody here try the Miller Syncrowave? I would like to be able to do both stick and TIG, and I have always liked Miller machines.

How much welding do you do. The Maxstars will do both but if I did alot of stick I would go with the 200 instead of the 150

One day I will learn to weld, my neighbor across the street is a welder and will teach me when I have time.
