Default 2-cycle oil as fuel additive

What do you guys think about adding 2-cycle oil to the fuel tank instead of using Stanadyne and such? I have read about a few people who have good results adding about a quart to the tank with each fill up. FWI, I have an '07 5.9 liter.

I just started using it my Drew's Brew instead of Marvel Mystery Oil along with the PSD. Haven't really noticed a difference.

16 oz of PSD & 16 oz of 2 stroke, been using it for a while now with great results. if your motor is new, the PSD/MMO will get you 1~1.25 mpg better. I think that gain slowly disappears as the motor gets further along in it's life. I dont really see that anymore when I use it. maybe .5 gain or so... I have 75k miles on mine now.

I add 1oz of 2 stroke for every gallon of fuel added. It definaely quiets the motor down, and I feel more comfortable knowing that my VP-44 is well lubed

HOWEVER ...

I'm not quite sure if it's OK to use on the newer diesels. Here's a link for you to check out ....

Here's a 101 page link on the subject ...

Have fun !!

that 101 page thread needs to be cleaned up... delete what is not needed and it becomes what 99? lol

It just occured to me that I can toss in the 2 stroke thing as another mpg test sometime during the winter... I havent mixed to the levels Moparman suggests, I'm at about 8 oz~16 oz when I add it.

There's also a similar thread I've seen of his that says that anything more than 10oz of PSD per tank is over kill. I think that thread is only 80 some pages. Those are interesting reading though.

I'm not sure what the blend is on 3rd gens. I'm doing the 1oz per gallon and it seems to be working just fine.

Steve this mileage thing that you are doing is great, but unfortunately I don't know if right now is the time to do it. They may or may not be switching over to the winter mix over there and it'll throw your results all outta whack.

I believe in the benefits of 2-cycle oil. My concern is that my truck is an '07, so I don't know if it is already designed to run onULSD. If so, maybe I shouldn't be adding anything extra, yes/no?

I share your concern, I too have an 07 with the 5.9, currently I use Power Service as my only additive. I've been on the fence about trying 2 cycle as well. As a test I think next fill up I'm going to add half a quart of 2 cycle oil as a test to see what happens. Added lubrication should only help.

Here's a question to those of you that like Amsoil in your crankcase, why don't you use the Amsoil fuel additives? I don't think I've ever seen someone on this forum mention them.
