Default o.t. Christmas

I just ordered my son a psp for Christmas. he is 6 years old. Does anyone think I should have waited a couple years to get him something like that?

Ours is 7 -- we keep talking about it too. I don't know if it would be a good thing for him or not. He already spends enough time in front of the blub tube. He's plenty active don't get me wrong (we can't get the kid to brake 50 lbs). But his imagination is already active enough; I don't think stealing cars & shooting bad guys would help his story telling any. We thought about the Wii; games seem a little better for his age group and it seems more active. But we just can't decide.

And we all know the truth anyhow....the game consol is as much for daddy as it is for the boy (that's why if we add one it will more than likely be the x-bos; had more games daddy wants to play)

I am getting it more for the portable t.v. when he has to go to a doc appointment with my other son (the premie) and has to wait a hour with nothing to do, this ought to shut him up for a while. and save the wifes sanity at the same time

As long as his time spent playing is kept in moderation. It's no different any other toy as long as it doesn't occupy too much of his time and result in family time and school grades suffering. Just watch the games you get him.

What do you want to know?

Besides working on my Ram, I LOOOOOOOVE gaming !! Believe it or not the ONLY reason I got internet access at my home was for playing the Playstation online, I could care less about computers.

As someone else mentioned, I do think the Wii is more geared towards younger kids. As a result, the Nintendo DS may also be a little better suited for a 6 year old. It'll offer the same games as the Wii which are again more geared towards the younger generation. The games MAY also be a little less expensive than the PSP ames are.

Regardless of the console that you get, keep your eyes peeled at the "Greatest Hits" collection. These are basically games that were the BOMB 4 months ago and were selling for 50 bucks then, but are now being sold for 20 bucks or less. The good this is with a 6 year old, he probably doesn't know what the hot game of today is, all he wants is a new game.

Any questions, feel free to ask.
