I'm not sure but I opened the exhaust first since thats what I knew about. Next Im getting a CAI and then a programmer. With fuel prices these days I would do what gets you the best MPG.

guages first, open up that intake and exhaust and then depending on the year of the truck and whether or not I had to do an emissions test I might be looking into a cam, I read this article http://www.dieselpowermag.com/tech/d...wap/index.htmland it sounds like they did a pretty thourough job to come up with the 2.1 mpg increase, except I don't know how they delt with the breakin issue. I wish they would have put in some actual graphs of the torque curves but it sounds like the cam does what it claims and makes the turbo more responsive and help control EGT. Probably also be able to pick up a programmer, probably something by TST for me. I would wait on the turbo for something down the road because they are expensive and for 3k you aren't going to be able to get a turbo and all the supporting hardware/software to get the full benefit from it.

Note I would start with a stick so the tranny isn't going to be as big of an issue, with an auto I would definitely do some work on that, all the power in the world doesn't do you any good if you can't get it to the ground.

Nice link Rooster, Sounds expensive but with a 30k mile payback, that really is not bad. Not to mention they base it on $3 fuel, its already $3.50 here. Much better payback than $5k into a tranny for sure.

$3000 might buy you a couple of tanks of fuel.

I just did my head gasket, def didn't see the cam. With the head off the pushrods are almost a foot long to get to the lifters which ride on the cam.

i would first get a hot rod VP44 along with the FASS...and then a bigger turbo or twins, and some other fun things like bigger injectors!
